Biography: The Duskfall
*
Biography:
Hailing from the town of Lulea in the north of Sweden, Duskfall was initially formed as an informal side project by guitarists Mikael Sandorf (ex-Gates of Ishtar) and Glenn Svensson in 1999. Quickly deciding to focus all of their energies on the new group, Sandorf and Svensson proceeded to work with a huge number of musicians before settling on a stable lineup consisting of vocalist Kai Jaakkola, bassist Kaj Molin, and drummer Oskar Karlsson by 2001. Displaying a vicious yet melodic death metal style reminiscent of bands like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames, the quintet`s debut album, Frailty, featured Magnus Olsson on lead guitar and was released in 2002 by Greece`s Black Lotus Records. Clearly in need of a permanent soloist, the band hired shredder Joachim Lindbäck to replace Svensson before recording 2003`s sophomore album Source.
